THE CORDON - A year of solidarity (27/01/2009)
We would like to bring in an article published in this newspaper some time ago (June 3, 2007). It was about the "will of solidarity", where a small group of volunteers made reference and free because of their meetings. We remember with pleasure and satisfaction then the birth of "THE CORDON.
... What a thing you eat? No, it's an association come out of nowhere, that two "boys" with real enthusiasm and being in four, have set up. Opportunity to promote one thing useful and necessary in our territory, in order to lend a hand to those in one. We would therefore like to report on what has been done in this initial period of activity.
In the past year we could well carry 972 people (with different difficulties, mobility problems or because they live alone, etc..) Hospitals and places for treatment of various types, but not only, because we dealt with also the transportation of Zoppola people to the market, every Tuesday. Another important service is the outputs of the Day Centre for children with disabilities to Poincicco or transportation of persons who have to travel to the MSM Azzano. Remarkable is also the recreational activity carried out continuously in the company of elderly nursing home Castions. The Cordon
also has promoted along with others, public meetings on specific topics of common interest relating to the "stroke problem" and air pollution. In May 2008 he organized his own path with informative introduction to first aid.
In a year was made 617 trips, traveling over 24,000 kilometers on our "blue car" (to say the truth is a van, but still blue) that the bank of Pordenone BCC has made available.
All this, of course, it was possible, not only with the work of our volunteers but also through the association of S. Pietro Azzano X °, which is responsible for coordinating the associations that operate in the District through the CUPT (Booking Centre transportation assistance), the social workers of the Municipality of Zoppola and last but not least, the wives (or husbands) of the volunteers who are at home by "stooge."
The association is therefore well placed and in good company, able to work quickly in their field, being "well oiled" by the considerable experience gained in this field by our "boys" that are driving the group.
We would like to make a special memory for Tonino Jus, our associate who died a few months ago that volunteering has made, and how! For us it will remain an example to follow.
During the year we put together a total of over 1500 hours of activity. Our "do" at the end, it becomes "give" our time, convinced that it is time well spent, certainly knows this better than us, who work daily within the families, loved ones or for relatives in difficulty if he arrived a little help from outside, we think that everything would become less tiring for them.
As for the future in short, is scheduled to arrive at a second vehicle, equipped this time to carry passengers in wheelchairs, and this once again with the decisive help of the Holy Peter Azzano. This will allow us to do a better service (which we recall, on our part it's free) helping out to more people.
Given that the needs out there, will welcome anyone who would make themselves available by joining our association. The Association currently consists of 18 volunteers who offer their service some more and some less, according to their means because we are all subjected to a scale of priorities and needs family.
